This book attracted my attention from an introduction article on TheGuardian. I bought it out of curiosity, and the reading blew me away. Scientifically proven, gracefully written, it held me from one chapter to the next, and I couldn't put it down, except when I need my precious sleep (which the author heartily encouraged). It doesn't feel like a dry documentary, it was indeed a journey into the human brain and the magic of sleep. It gave me interesting knowledge about baby development, adolescent rebel, psychology, and even a smile on my face here and there.

Probably one of the first time I give a 5 stars to a book. The work and the knowledge you'll find in this book is staggering.And the further you go in the book, the better you understand, the better you could change in embrassing the whole view.To understand and find the best diet for me, it takes me more than 18 month and a dozen books to read. Here, for sleep, just one book to go!

This is the most compelling book I ever read. I realized how sleep is central to my up and downs, and to elderly problems in my family. I will now respect my sleep, and the sleep of others. I can't wait for a french translation, to share it broadly. Once shared, this scientific knowledge has a power to change our society organisation, and this vulgarization book is a key step for public sensibilization. The science is passionating.
